2016 Judicial Performance Review results published
The Iowa State Bar Association has released the results of its biennial
survey of judges standing for retention in this year’s general election.
The full results of this year’s judicial performance review, including
biographies of each judge or justice, are available now atwww.judicialfacts.org.
The ISBA has conducted the performance review every two years since 1962 when Iowa adopted its merit system for selecting judges. The review is designed to give voters information on which to base their decisions about keeping a judge in office.
Iowa Supreme Court requests comments on new civil procedure rule
The Iowa Supreme Court has requested public comments on a proposed addition to the Iowa Rules of Civil Procedure addressing hearings on temporary orders. The rule, 1.431(10), would require these hearings be conducted in the presence of parties who have appeared either in person, by phone or by video conference.
